1 Spatula
1 Oven
1 Cast Iron Pan or Baking Tray
1 Knife
Ingredients
350gPlain Flour
150gWholewheat Flour
1tspSalt
1tspBaking Soda
1tbspSugar
200mlWhole Milk
200mlFull Fat Yoghurt
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 230°C
In a mixing bowl add the plain flour, wholewheat flour, salt, baking soda & sugar, then mix it well, this is dry ingredients. Next, add milk into yoghurt and mix it. Then pour it into dry ingredients.
Give all ingredients a good mix until there is no dry flour, but be careful not to overwork the dough.
Take dough out of the bowl and put it on to a floured work surface. Bring it together and form into a round shape. This is rustic bread, so if the top of bread has some wrinkles it is ok. Transfer to the cast iron pan or baking tray with baking sheet.
Next flatten the dough slightly and dust a little flour on the dough, this will make it easier to score. Use a Knife to score a deep cross in the top of the dough, this is to bless the bread and to help it rise. Then go into each quarter of the dough and poke a hole to let the fairies out.
Put it into oven, change the temperature to 210°C, bake for 35-40 minutes or until soda bread is golden on the outside and cooked thourgh.
Let it cool on a wire rack, then enjoy your lovely bread. Its best with butter!
